A Community

Of  Kindness

The Idea

A collaboration between Lewes District Council and Look Again, inviting all primary schools across Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven, East Saltdean, and Telscombe Cliffs to take part in a new creative community project designed to celebrate positivity, kindness, and togetherness through art.

Building on the success of last year’s public art events, this next phase will use creativity as a simple but powerful way to strengthen local pride and connection across our coastal towns. Working together, we’ll explore how art can inspire shared values, spark conversation, and help children feel part of something bigger within their community.

The project will culminate in a district-wide exhibition of children’s work displayed in public spaces alongside designs by renowned artist Supermundane — transforming our streets into a colourful celebration of creativity and collective spirit.

A joyful, hands-on collaboration bringing colour, positivity, and community spirit into classrooms and public spaces across the district.

Together, Dawn East and Supermundane will create a vibrant classroom pack designed to spark creativity and connection. Each pack will include:

  • A colouring-in sheet inspired by Supermundane’s bold patterns and joyful forms

  • A typography worksheet encouraging children to design their own community slogans

  • Sheets of coloured paper for cutting, layering and experimenting with layout

  • A fold-out A3 poster to take home and display in windows, on walls, or fridges — alongside each child’s own poster

The project will culminate in a bright and hopeful public exhibition, with billboards, posters and lamppost banners featuring both Supermundane’s artwork and the children’s creations — a collective celebration of creativity, kindness, and local pride.

Each participating school will receive a free creative classroom pack designed by local artist Dawn East in collaboration with Supermundane. The pack is designed to inspire pupils to explore ideas of kindness, community, and belonging through colour, pattern, and positive messaging.

The pack includes:

  • A colouring-in sheet inspired by Supermundane’s bold, joyful designs

  • A typography worksheet to help pupils create their own community slogans

  • Coloured paper for collage and poster-making

  • A fold-out A3 poster for each pupil to take home and display

  • Dawn East will visit each school to guide teachers through how to use the materials in class.

Selected posters from each school will then be displayed alongside Supermundane’s artwork on lamppost banners and billboards across Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven, East Saltdean, and Telscombe Cliffs — turning the children’s creative responses into a district-wide celebration of positivity and unity.
